Goodbye, 2021. Hello, 2022. At the end of every year, we all like to reflect and begin new goals to be better and do better than the year prior. I think before we start the new year, pursue new goals and start over, we should reminisce about the past for a second to motivate us and to see how far we’ve come as individuals. Because the next year will be long, traitorous, and will have roadblocks and obstacles just like the year prior. I say all of this to say if you don’t slow down, you won’t be able to see how far you’ve come.

For example, on the eve of 2020, I was literally on my hands and knees crying out to God in my bedroom to help me because I was at the lowest point – mentally and spiritually – than I’ve ever been in my entire life.

I was about to graduate from college with no job set-up post-graduation, no stable income for my ever-growing bills, and reeling from a hard break-up. Most importantly, I didn’t have any idea or plan for the rest of my life. One could say, I was quite literally at rock bottom.

One year later, I’m the exact opposite of where I used to be. I’ve found my career and even have a job currently in the field. I have a stable income, I’ve grown substantially in my spiritual walk, I know where my life is headed, and am doing everything in my power to continue down this path and stay vigilant. Most importantly, I’ve grown and matured as an individual dramatically. I say all of this to say that this is how far God has brought me. And He can do the same thing for you too.

I won’t say this past year came without its bumps and bruises, and nights where I struggled to sleep because I didn’t know what tomorrow would bring. But they were experiences and moments that God placed me in to exercise my faith in him, so He could show you and me how truly sovereign He truly is, and how He has the last say over any and everything. The biggest thing I can leave you guys with is to trust that God won’t forsake or leave us in our moments of need and weakness. We just have to endure the storm.

So, we need not have to worry about anything because Phillippians 4:6 tell us, “don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your request to God. “ I know too often it may be hard to have faith in a verse because the storm may seem so great, but I ask you to hold faith, as little as a mustard seed to start, look to your past and open your eyes so that you can see how God has already come through when you needed Him the most.
