We are in the 3rd month of the year with the 4th month right around the corner. How has your year been so far? Has 2019 been as great as you expected so far? How was the wintertime for you? Productive or depressing? What has the first quarter of the year taught you? Learn anything new about yourself?
I ask these questions because it’s important to remain reflective. Every now and then It’s healthy to stop everything you’re doing and think about your life, and where you are right now. Maybe you wrote down a list of expectations at the beginning of the year. Take time to look over those expectations and recenter your focus. It’s Springtime, so that means it’s time for some Spring Cleaning. The sun is back! The flowers are blooming. Daylight-savings got our serotonin on point. Let’s regroup and strategize how to approach each day of the rest of the year.
I want to give you, the reader, the opportunity right now to let go of any toxic things 2019 has brought you thus far. Not to say that these things have defined your year so far, regardless, search yourself for anything that could still be rubbing you the wrong way, take a deep breath, and let it go. Right now – stop reading and take a break.
Done?
We have over 200 days left in this year, more than enough time to change your perspective if needed – more than enough time to accomplish what you plan to.
Have you taken any L’s. Awesome – let’s move on the year ain’t over. No internship? No job? Breakup with your ex? No plans for Spring Break? The sun still came up today. That means you have more time to build, perfect, grow, evolve, and conquer. You have purpose – STILL. If you’re not already, it’s time to be in your zone.
I want to do another exercise. This week, pick one day to logout of social media and be in tuned with yourself. Take the day to treat yourself and do what you like – buy what you want. On top of that, find time within that day for 5 to 10 mins of meditation. And no – I don’t mean the criss-cross applesauce- OOOOOM type of deal. Just sit down, stay quiet and think. Days like this are needed – whether life is going fantastic or not.
I say all this to say – It’s Spring, a new season. You get to decide how you respond to the past 3 months of 2019. And you get to decide how you approach the remainder of the year. Remember, you have a purpose… let’s regroup and get back to it!
