“Thank God it’s Friday…” chances are we’ve all made this statement. We woke up one Friday morning and reminisced on all of the hard work we did throughout the week. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday… all days filled with school work, your 9 to 5, or just crazy problems. All week we were living for Friday to come – the day we could put all of our problems behind us and live our life for the next 2 to 3 days. We thank God for Friday because it means the beginning of  “breaking the routine”. It begins the fun and “carefree us”. Honestly, can we all ask ourselves a real question? Is living life with this mindset healthy?

We all hate the feeling of waking up at 7 am on a Monday morning. We dread it. Why? Because it means we have to head back to work or school and we actually have to apply ourselves. Also, quite frankly, a lot of us might hate what we do so that makes waking up early every morning even more dreadful. Bottom line is, we aren’t enthusiastic about waking up on Monday because we see 5 days ahead of us filled with work and stress. Ooooh but when that Friday comes along, we see a 3-day weekend of pleasure. The reason we are writing this editorial is because we, at Un-Associated, have a message for the world of students and nine-to-fivers. We believe that every, last human being on this planet has a purpose. The fact that you woke up this morning is evidence that you have something you need to complete before you go back to sleep. Purpose is nothing to dread, but everything to celebrate. Why? Because it gives us a REASON TO BE ALIVE. You want to know the best thing about our purpose? It doesn’t only exist on the weekends. It also exists on the weekdays. It exists when we wake up Monday morning. It exists at our desks all 8 hours of our shift. It exists at office hours with that one stuck up professor. Purpose is the reason we are alive, so we are alive because we have purpose.

We should be celebrating every breath we take because those breaths ensure us of our purpose still being intact. And this purpose is beyond going to work or class and just sitting there. Maybe you were woken up this morning to help your coworker get through a rough patch in their life. Or maybe you were woken up because you’re going to meet someone in class that will help you connect to your destiny. So when we breath at our desk, in lecture, or anywhere else, know that we all have purpose, and it’s bigger than what we think. It is because you have this purpose you can wake up on a Monday morning and celebrate that you have received one more day to execute your purpose.

Here is a practical tip: Monday through Friday at work or school does not have to be a routine. You could always break the routine. Maybe you shouldn’t quit your job or drop out of school, but something as simple as switching up your diet is something. Maybe instead of going to the gym at night, you go in the morning. Or maybe take a different route to class. Little things could help you add some variety and life to your weekdays. Try it out!
