Which story should I choose? I mean there’s just so many. We live in a day and age where there is a narrative that surrounds every single thing you can imagine. I was scrolling down Twitter after Kamala Harris was announced Joe Biden’s running mate. I saw many different opinions, some positive about the decision and some negative. It was just funny to me, because both the positive and negative opinions were presented by verified accounts, that all seemed very knowledgeable on politics and the history of each candidate in the Presidential race. The positives and the negatives both seemed valid. But I asked myself, which opinion do I choose to be correct?

Opinions, opinions, opinions. It seems like that’s all our lives are filled with. God forbid we all agree on something. Like legit, I don’t think that there is one commonly shared belief about anything in the world besides the sky being blue (but I bet someone would try and refute that too.) To me, sometimes it feels like we hold on so tight to our opinions that we start to forsake the facts. We double down on our stances when in debates, even if our opponent has a valid point. We can care less about the facts, we just want our opinions to be upheld – therefore we unlock our inner biased beasts to run rampant in our communities.

Everywhere you go there is bias. Go to CNN, go to Fox News, the left, the right, everywhere lol. Every point consists of narratives derived from biased individuals that just want their way to be the only way that is considered. It seems like nothing is objective anymore. It seems like there are no longer facts in this world, just a plethora of narratives to choose from. We are just expected to choose the one that makes you sleep at night the most comfortably.

But I ask, what are you willing to do for the truth. Are you willing to be uncomfortable? Are you willing to be wrong? Are you willing to be humiliated in debate while seeking the truth? Shoot – do any of us even want the truth? That’s the question I should’ve asked first. Right now it doesn’t look like it to me. To me, it looks like we want everyone to adhere to what we want – whether what we are saying is the truth or not.

I for one, don’t want to feel like I have to choose from a list of opinions. I want the truth. And to find that truth in this day and age, you truly just have to research everything yourself. Don’t be scared, watch everything, read everything, listen to every podcast. I don’t care if you’re listening to the right or the left or the up or the down. Go find out something for yourself. It’s a whole lotta opinions floating around – and let me just say – they can’t all be right at the same time. Somebody is wrong. Go find out what you need to find out for yourself. Don’t choose, discover.
